Conservatives versus Liberals

What do conservatives read? They read about how Ronald Reagan upheld the Constitutional freedoms this country has. They read Ann Coulter or Sean Hannity. They read about how Bill Clinton was the most evil president ever and how because of him our social values were at their all-time low in the 1990's (whatever that means). But if they're conservative they already know about these things, right? So what are they really learning? - how to be more conservative.

What do liberals read? They read about how the Christian right is undermining the Constitutional freedoms this country has. They read Michael Moore or Ralph Nader. They read about how Bill Clinton was the most righteous president ever and how because of him our social values were at their all-time high in the 1990's (whatever that means). But if they're liberal they already know about these things, right? So what are they really learning? - how to be more liberal.

Republicans read Republican literature. Democrats read Democrat literature. And they quite often walk around as if they are informed. Or perhaps they're just walking around as Republicans and Democrats. But please don't confuse this with informed. So when you're waxing poetic about how much better your party is than the other party, please don't be alarmed when someone chimes in with, "That's a lie!" Remember, you're not as informed as you could be.

Republicans should read Democrat literature, but not because I say so. They should read Democrat literature to become better Republicans. And vice versa. If you are able to argue your point because you have researched what your opponent already has said rather than hearing it paraphrased from someone who's already tainted it, everyone will listen to you even more. That's a good thing!
