Haven't joined a fantasy baseball league, yet. First time not joining in years. I think I'm going to appreciate the freedom.
Set up first, verify later
Energy Efficient Yahoo articleThe above link is an article discussing how to get the US government's energy efficient stamp of approval.
The problem being they don't verify energy efficiency. The article claims once the product is launched testing is then done. Classic "get the program set up and we'll figure it out later" organization. Granted, checking after product launch is probably still important because product specs could change before launching in market.
But this feels eerily similar to the recent health bill passage. Set it up, and we'll figure it out later.
Hopefully things work out, though, for the better.... I still haven't reviewed the health bill and all of its possible ramifications (and probably neither has Congress...).
Syracuse lost today to Butler in the NCAA tourney. Butler was under-seeded as a 5 seed - they finished the year in the top 10 in the polls. So if writers and coaches think they're good, why would the NCAA committee think they aren't? Maybe not 2-seed good but a 3 or 4.
Anyway, Butler got away with lots of body-ing up on defense. Annoying. And I wish Coach Boeheim would get his guys playing with a sense of urgency throughout the whole game. They only scored 1 point in the first 6:30 of the game. Crazy.
Guess the Big East was overrated this year. Still... go West Virginia! There's still hope to salvage something for the conference!
Headline: New York bar to set menu prices like stocks
Comment from James: So would it be illegal if I short-sell my beer to the drunk guy sitting next to me?
I love comments people leave after articles. Recently Yahoo opened up commenting on news articles. Here are some winners:
Headline: Indian military to weaponize world's hottest chili
Comment from Timothy N: Weaponize Chili????? This friggin rules!!!........now they need to weaponize beer so I can start my life of crime!!!!
Comment from James M: Weaponizing food has been around for centuries. The Romans weaponized my mother-in-law's tuna casserole to defeat the world.
The movie Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen as Frank Bullitt. Famous for a car chase that is totally overrated. Not great dialogue. Interesting "get-a-witness-that-the-mob-wants-dead-to-testify" plot that has been rehashed by a zillion movies since. If this movie were redone today it'd be about 25 minutes because there are a bunch of shots of people walking that just waste time (although I suppose the director was trying to set the mood or ambiance or something).
Not worth watching, even from the "trying to watch old movies and get 'cultured'" angle.
Syracuse lost. Seems like they've lost 10 games this season, even though they've only lost 3. They take too much time off in the middle of games.
Syracuse lost. They didn't play with any determination except for about 2 minutes.
